Harrington Elementary
School is located in Denver, Colorado. The school has an enrollment
of approximately 470 incredible children for the 2008/2009
school year. We made our first visit to the school on March
20, 2009 and were greeted by children from the pre-school
program all the way up to sixth grade. The compassion from
the teachers and administrators for these children was clearly
evident. Despite their economic hardships, we were overwhelmed
by the giving spirit of these children, as they truly understood
the vision of paying forward. While receiving their gift of
a reading book, many brought donations of a dollar to help
us buy books for other children. We were truly humbled.

students asked me to write a letter to you to say 'Thank
You!' for all of the wonderful books you brought to our
school to give to them. They wanted me to tell you that
they really love the choices of titles that you picked
and that they have enjoyed reading them very much. Books
are a luxury many of their families cannot afford. For
many students the only way they will ever have a collection
of books to read at home is because of people like you.
They want you to know that your investment in them is
well placed. They have dreams and they will make their
dreams come true." |
